remember those tag sale goodies i scored? the cheesiest two tulip prints ever?
a little spray paint fun...
+ two of graphics fairy's images, a little paint, distressing and some mod podge=
i had everything on hand, got the canvas as part of a $5 bundle of crap..err art in progress, so these were pretty much free cheap art.
and this made me smile, thought i'd share it. this is my husband's grandmother's basement stairwell. she used to run a beach store/pizza joint while she and her husband lived upstairs. it's since been renovated by my in laws and they live here in the summer. i love that they didn't paint over this, it's a collection of notes and telephone numbers from the 40's through today. any time any of the grandkids or their friends come over, they write their number on here. there's even some recipe notes jotted down; it's pretty cool.
i linked up at:
Hi - I love your quick art! I also LOVED the old handwriting and tel numbers from the 40s. That in itself is a piece of art. I used to love with a guy who had all his telephone numbers (and then mine and my kids') on the back of a closet door in a kitchen. I wish I had that picture today!
ReplyDeleteI posted on Uncommon also - one or two posts after yours!
Great post! I really enjoyed it!
thanks linda! i'm considering starting my own collection of notes and numbers in our basement stairwell :)

DeleteYour canvas art is fabulous!! Oh I wish I had a basement, I would so start a wall like that!! It is so wonderful that the in laws saw the value!
ReplyDeleteCarol
thanks carol. the store was a big part of my mother in law's life and my husband too, who worked for his grandparents during the summer while in high school. my inlaws have decorated the renovated house with many artifacts, including the menu board which has been matted and framed. it's really a great place.
DeleteHi girl! Thanks for stopping by again. I left a reply.
ReplyDeleteLove your art! Nice job. I still haven't tried the mod podge thing yet....I'm sure it's just a matter of time!
it's all i can do to keep from mod podging my husband. heh. (insert viagra joke here).
DeleteI love how these turned out! Thanks so much for sharing this at our link party this week! I can't wait to see what you are up to next!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
