i know, i know.   what is it with me and trays?  they're pretty much boring utilitarian pieces and yet i'm drawn to them.  maybe i was a servant in another life?

i think i paid $3 for the set at a thrift shop.  might'a been $5.  either way, a total steal in my book. i sanded and painted them an off white the day i purchased them and then they sat while the other half and i fought installed and beadboard ceiling on the porch.  so now mother's day is just around the corner (last minute  lizzie) so i got to work tonight on one for my mother in law and one for my mom. more after the jump...

i've been awol, forgive me?

the end of the school year always seems to be so busy, and this year is no exception.  we barely got into may and bang! prom was here.  most girls primp and prep for days before the big night, setting aside time for eyebrow waxing, manicures, pedicures, make up and hair.  try squeezing in a mani/pedi between softball games with one the night before prom and practices or games every night before that.  have you ever seen a shortstop's finger nails after a game? that wasn't happening.  oy!

we managed to get brows, hair, nails and make up done all before four and the finished product looked beautiful...

it always amazes me how this mudball cleans up so well.  girly even.  :D

sometimes i find it hard to believe she's actually a girl...
